I wish they would top asking you to enable Apple Pay immediately after an install - when you haven't even downloaded the app that allows you to authenticate a card. If they can make this the final step in setup, I'd be happy.

Yes it's great but the Glass? An immediate negative, although True Tone helped a lot (That I never used). Not sure if this will stay the way it is. Not a big deal.

The Glass looks like the old skew morphism with an (ugly) twist; busy, and weird. Then again I just looked at for a second. I'l probably get used to it immediately, as I don't really about that sort of thing.

I like it.

I'll be happy if it really stops treating users like they have the brain power of a cocker spaniel. It seems like that might be the case finally, but after so long I'm still dubious until I get a chance to use it for myself. Stage Manager felt like a giant waste of time from the start, and this looks to be so much better. Still, Apple completely lied to us last year when it came to what was actually going to be delivered. So who knows how much of this is real vs. vaporware.

The general public does have the brain power…or at least attention span of one 😆

Cocker Spaniels are beautiful animals. Great positive comparison!

Anyone getting a low pitched grinding like noise when interacting with the interface, I am on beta 1 on an iPad Pro m4 13”? It is very low, sounds like interference. Very noticeable when editing the look of icons in jiggle mode.

In the window mode, can you change the aspect ratio of iPhone apps and iPad apps that don't support proper free-size windows? Or are they still locked to iPhone/iPad aspect ratios?

Last year, I waited for at least half a year before updating to iPadOS 18 (and I still don't exactly know what got improved apart from the AI stuff I do not use). But this is the first time I immediately jumped on the first developer beta. And I am not disappointed. I installed it on an iPad pro M1. The animations are laggy, some are very bad (the Tinted icons for instance: changing the color is very very slow).
The Windowing system is great. Am currently using it together with a 4K screen.
I don't know if this was possible before, but the new menu bar gives me the option in Safari to change the font size of a webpage. This is neat.
Not sure why they still allow only one instance of the Books app, though - this isn't a restriction on MacOS.

regarding stability, I've got a handful of reboots so far, so it's definitely not stable. But since the reboots are so quick, I'm not yet bothered by it too much.

Interesting. None for me yet but I’ve only played around with it for a few hours. Settled in nicely.

Now that the 3-dots multitasking button is gone, does YouTube go actually full screen on the external display? Right now it keeps a small black border when showing 16:9 video on a 16:9 display
