iPad IPadOS Mail: Unread filter causes ALL unread emails to show in Preview Pane

Hi,

I have noticed for a while that there is a situation with my iPad Air 2 (at current iPadOS level of 13.3) whereby if you put the inbox filter on Unread, the Preview Pane will start showing you not just the email you selected on the left, but ALL of the Unread Emails that are in the Inbox. It will start with the one you selected but then when you scroll down in the Preview Pane all of the other Unread Emails show up as well.

Has anyone else noticed this and is there a fix?

Okay so I got an answer from Apple support: you have to toggle on the "Complete Threads" option in Mail settings. I don't know exactly why that fixes it...but it does.
