Hey, I want an iPhone for Christmas but don't want to ask for one then a month or so after Christmas a new one comes out, anyone know when they will be getting updated again? Should I wait or should I just go ahead?

No one knows when an updated version will be released except Apple. If the iPhone 3G follows the same product cycle as the original iPhone, expect a storage capacity increase in February or March and an all new model around June or July. But again, this is only based off of what happened with the previous generation.

If you search the forum you will find literally dozens of conversations on this topic.

Sorry.

Do you think it is worth me getting one for Christmas then? And can I upgrade? Like at a reduced price or whatever?

No one can tell you whether it's worth it FOR YOU. Maybe your mom can, but no one here. If you need a phone now, get it now. If you can wait til next year, wait, if you want.

If a new model comes out within 30 days of you buying the previous model, you *might* be able to exchange it.

Would you get one right now or would you wait? I don't desperately need a phone, my iPod touch does everything apart from phone but I would like one now but not if it's going to be out of date soon.

Just buy one if you want it now, stop looking to others to make your buying decisions for you.

OMG how many times are you going to ask the same question? If there is a new phone in late winter, it will most likely just be a bump in capacity. 3G is here to stay for the forseeable future. You can make the decision, I know you can.
