Hello - I wanted to discuss the durability of the iPhone 11 pros. The ads show the phone dropping and going inside purses. Which to me reflect two issues:
- shattering glass
- scratching glass

From my limited knowledge, it seems you pick one or the other (am I correct?)

So it’s interesting that Apple is showing both instances. My initial thought was that these will be more shatter resistant but less scratch resistant. In my 8 years of using an iPhone, I’ve shattered it once with a drop (iPhone 4S) but have had multiple mini mini scratches (I stopped using screen protectors and if you wear earrings it scratches).
A work colleague bought an XR recently and in 3 days had 2 massive scratches. I’ve never had those though.

My view is that phones have been less scratch resistant but more shatter proof.

Thoughts? Anyone believe these phones will be more scratch resistant or shatter resistant?

I wouldn’t put too much hope into it, its marketing bs

On the other hand, the material seems to be the same as on the base Apple Watch (ion exchange something something bla bla), which so far held up some quite serious smashes into door handles and such and is scratch free for the most part (im very surprised, I was under the impression I had much more). But that might also be due to the small surface area...
