iPhone 11 Pro iPhone 11 Pro Max says 5G connection

My son has an iPhone 11 Pro Max and he sees this. It says "5G". Hmmm but the speed is not impressive. He is an AT&T customer.

That is AT&T’s 5GE or 5G Evolution, is merely AT&T's name for its latest and greatest iteration of LTE, which utilizes specific technologies, like 256 QAM, 3-way carrier aggregation and 4X4 MIMO that will play a role in 5G's ultimate development. 5GE is available in 400 markets and counting.

Definitely Not the same as 5G

It’s not real 5G. The 11ProMax doesn’t have a 5G chip. What you’re seeing is AT&T enhanced LTE falsely labeled as “5G”

5G is nowhere near enough to being ready yet anyway.

Well, it doesn't actually say "5G", it says "5Ge"

5Ge is quite a bit different from 5G.
