Hey all, just picked up my iphone 11 pro max in midnight green today. Have been loving it so far. However, i was on the phone test calling my wife and she mentioned that she heard an echo on her side that was rather loud when I was on speaker. When i removed speaker, the echo went away. Tried to put it back on speaker a few more times and each time on speaker she heard an echo on her side from her voice! (I did not hear an echo from me or her). She is using an XS.

so i thought maybe her phone is acting up. I call two of my buddies (iphone 8 plus and iphone XR) and SAME THING! They hear an echo on their side when Im on speaker only...also, i DO NOT have a case

I dont plan on buying apple care and this is the first time I got an iphone so soon after release date. Anyone else have this issue? Would anyone else mind testing? I would say i spend most of my calls on speaker. Trying to figure out if this is something known that they’ll eventually fix or if i should be looking into taking it back to the apple store.

I have but only the settings. Took like an hour to set up the phone and didnt want to go through that again unless i absolutely had to

Ah i see! Yes i did try that. After my first turn on and off, the echo was much reduced (Initially it was apparently unbearable). But theres still a faint echo. I might just keep testing it throughout the day before I go in to the store, I just want to make sure it isnt some phone specific defect.

It's not a hardware defect. The phone's microphone is picking up the voice of the caller in speaker. Probably due to a transmission delay. Happened to me all the way back to my iPhone 6. It's really more noticeable in a car or a place that's closed quarters. Don't return a phone based on this!
