Love my Pro Max which I got today but when using the wide angle camera I notice in not so good lighting the picture looks almost artificial, also looks similar on iPad Pro 2018 camera.

The picture looks different compared to a picture taking on normal camera.

Anyone noticed this before, or maybe it’s just me.

It has a lot of post capture image processing going on behind the scenes straightening all the curved lines. Basically it's been completely taken apart & put back together. The end result is an effect of wide angle view but it's not really based on physics, more like algorithms

Actually... this is what’s going on. The ultra wide camera is a sharp camera! It works best in well lit conditions (Outdoors, well lit interiors) and looks worse at night or darker areas because the f/2.4 aperture is fairy slow compared to to f/1.8. As the ISO increases, the quality decreases and more noise reduction is applied. This creates a softer and mushy look. If you use third party apps that allow you to manually control the camera, then you could set the ISO lower to clean up the shot in low light. The UWA camera is best outdoors but I have managed to get superb clean images using the Nightcap app on long exposure mode with the UWA, you’ll need a tripod though. I attached two of my daytime shots.
