so i have an iphone 11 and the settings app is asking me to update to ios 26.1 is it worth it i heard so many people had battery issues on older iPhone with the new ios update

I am using an iPhone 12 and will keep 18.7 as long as I can. I know what iPadOS 26 did on my iPad 9th which shares the processor with the iPhone 11; it adds cool features but the performance hit is real. I also have an iPad 8th still on iPadOS 18 and it operates smoother.
For iOS 26 on the phone there aren't features I really need so I leave it at 18.

People have mixed experiences but personally on an iPhone 11 I would recommended staying on iOS 18…at least until end of January 2026, let Apple iron out the remaining issues in 26.

I've upgraded my phone to the 17 as I recently cracked the screen on my base iPhone 11, but until mid September I was running all the iOS 26 betas on it.

I had no issues; it was no slower nor battery hungry than iOS 18. And iOS 18 was better at both than iOS 17.

iPhone 11 Pro Max, currently on iOS 26.1 No issues.

During the first beta of iOS 26, I mean the one I first installed, I had a big battery hit at the very beginning. However, after a day or two everything returned to the same normal I had on iOS 18. So, I attribute that to whatever background processes needed to shake out.

I'm a fan of Liquid Glass. For the first time my stock iPhone is starting to look like the jailbroken versions I had from 2011 to 2020.

Using an iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 26.1.

Aside from the questionable UI changes and aesthetic choices I don't have any issues.

Battery life and performance are "fine". I don't notice much of a difference from iOS 18. My battery health is 70% and the phone is 6 years old so I was actually expecting A LOT worse....
