I noted that the battery capacity for the 11 was a tad higher than the pro. However, several tests online (and Apple's official figures, by the look of it) have the pro outlasting the 11 by as much as an hour. I know that the OLED display is more efficient at displaying blacks, but could the difference translate to this big a difference in actual use?

Based on this website, the 11 Pro actually has a slightly larger battery than the iPhone 11, yet lasted shorter in their battery tests. So it seems the results are all over the place.

I know what Apple claims, but it's really going to vary based on how you use your phone. Still, I think the takeaway is that they all get excellent battery life, and you can't go wrong either way.

It's not just more efficient at displaying blacks, it's that it won't turn on the pixel at all if it isn't needed.

oh i completely agree. I'm not for one complaining about the devices in any way. I'm merely curious as to what could be contributing to this battery difference. Can OLED alone offer that much battery savings?

I did see the tomsguide article, but the numbers don't seem to correlate with what's found elsewhere. (https://www.macrumors.com/2019/09/17/iphone-11-pro-max-battery-mah-4gb-ram-tenaa/)
