I don't use my iPhone (or iPad) much, preferring to use my cellular Apple Watch on the go, so my iPhone and to an extent my iPad stay on charge for a few days without use. But about two-three days of that, the WiFi on both disconnects. The iPhone goes to 5G, the iPad just disconnects from the internet. Neither will reconnect unless you physically remove them from the cable and unlock them, and then they instantly reconnect again to WiFi.

This disconnecting breaks Handoff/Continuity with my Mac, so whenever my iPhone disconnects from WiFi and defaults to 5G, the Mac refuses to successfully send or receive SMS and does not get FaceTime calls from the iPhone. iPhone Mirroring also fails. They seem to have to be on the same WiFi network to sync. Whenever the iPhone disconnects it also impacts my Apple Watch, as it won't send/receive any calls/messages that were sent to the iPhone, and I often realize that after I've been at work and cannot respond or know anyone sent anything to the iPhone. Anything going to the Watch remains fine though.

There is nothing wrong with my internet as various Android tablets both new and old have no issue keeping connected to WiFi. I feel this is some type of 'feature' (and this has happened in iOS 18 as well so it's not something I can blame on the beta) but is there any way to turn that off? I want them connected to WiFi entirely and stay connected.

I feel this is some type of 'feature'
This is called "Inactivity Reboot," which was introduced with iOS 18.2. iOS devices will reboot after not being used for around 72 hours. This will return the phone to BFU (before first unlock) mode, so no decrypted data such as contact information and notifications is left in the phone’s memory. I don’t think there’s an option to turn this feature off for now.

Why does it kill the WiFi connection? That would explain why my iPad says 'enter PIN to unlock after iPad restarts' at least.
