Other iPhone 12 magnet... car mount?

will we no longer need the magnetic plates behind our phones to attach to magnetic car mounts?

The video actually quickly showed a Belkin MagSafe car mount which I'm really excited by, but I can imagine there will be a plethora of magnetic mounts, both charging and non charging.

You will definitely still need the plates, it falls right off even with the wallet.

Yup, need the plate unless you buy a newer mount that supports mag safe.
swapped said plate from my 2020 SE to my 12 Pro and works fine. Still fits perfectly between phone and silicon case without any issues.
