Hi,

I have just ordered an iPhone 12 Mini and read some very positive reviews. However, just want to ask for those of you who already own the 12 Mini, do you experience some issues with display like green tint, flickering, and burn-in?

Supposedly, Apple should have a fix for these display issues with a software update (hopefully).

Please let me know your feedbacks on this.

No display issues here either. Anyhow, if you find anything at all abnormal with your new mini, you can always replace or return it.

Received my 12 Mini and the screen seems fine when looking from a normal view.

However, it seems that there is a slight greenish hue when looking at the display from the sides as for example, when I tilt the phone.

True Tone is off.

Not as bad as compared to the images I’ve seen regarding the display issues that some people have.

Again, seems fine to me when looking at the display normally.

For the rest of you who replied, can you see slight greenish color on the display when tilting the phone sideways?

Definite greenish tinge. Certainly not a true white comparing it to my 6S.

I tested the display by setting the display in Dark Mode in a darkened room and turning the brightness levels on max high and max low from a black background usually from the Settings and Check for Updates section because it has the most black background.

Could not see anything with a greenish tint.

But, it slightly goes greenish when looking from sideways.

Is this normal?

Anyways, luckily I still have my XS in case I have to take the Mini back...

I can confirm that 2 of the 3 Minis I tried had pretty extreme blue/green color shift when viewed off-axis, much more so than my X. Other display issues were washed out colors and yellow tint (with true tone off). Loved the size, but after 3 tries I gave up. Best of luck, I hope you get a good one.

I am taking it back and keeping the XS. It is a bummer...Because it was the perfect form factor. With that being said, I had received my first email message on the Mini and to be honest, it was really hard to read the message. The XS screen looks so much better, nice and sharper. But I did really like the feel of the Mini. Too bad.

Anyone else have the greenish color shift when viewing the phone from an off-axis angle?

Is this really normal?

If I view the display from a normal angle, seems to be fine.

I decided to not return it as I really like the 12 Mini and probably this is just an annoying side effect of OLED displays rather than being a serious problem.

Dito. The same here. I don't know what to do. I love mini and max sizes. Not so much the SE, as the display and camera is not up to date at all. 11 Pro Max is on sale here at the moment. But I have just fallen for the Mini size. It is perfect. I had one with an OK display but this had another issue. The other two had bad displays, both 128GB black, washed out, yellow tint, raised blacks. Are there any good Mini displays out there? I am really on the fence right now. Buying the 11 Pro Max on sale today or trying yet another Mini. 5G or better Qualcomm chip is another reason. Way better reception.

Don't know about "Green", but OLED panels do have an off axis shift, usually a bluish colour. Could be that you're talking about.

Upon returning all 3 Minis, I went back to my X. The difference is that the X off-axis shift is: 1) far less severe, and 2) tends toward yellow/pink instead of green/blue. Aesthetically I find the yellow/pink much less jarring. My wife described the effect on the Mini as if someone had put a privacy screen protector on it, it was that extreme.

Further reading on current and older threads show that many have gone through the “OLED screen lottery.” My X has always been fine, so this is my first direct experience with it. But 0 for 3 on the Mini was enough to stop trying.

All to say, yes, it’s there in all OLED screens. However, there’s a lot of evidence to show huge variance in quality from phone to phone.

As I see it more closely, its kind of a greenish/bluish in color.

I like the Mini so much, that I don't even care anymore and no color tinting issues when looking at the phone from a normal viewing angle. I would guess this is not a serious issue, just an annoyance.

But anyways, thanks for all the responses.

Solved off colour problem. Go to Settings> Accessibility> Display & Text Size> turned off "Reduce White Point"
