Hi,
I have a question for other iPhone 12 mini owners. I have noticed the problem but I don't know if this address to SW or HW.
Problem description:
  • Brightness to maximum
  • Dark mode enabled
  • Visit some dark menu - for example - Accessibility - Touch
  • When scrolling at different speed there are purple lines in the menu - above grey boxes
So my question is can somebody please try to replicate this?

I also struggle with headaches and dizziness while using iPhone 12 mini so I don't know if is my panel really bad or its normal behavior (screen PWR is not compatible with my eyes).

Thank you

I just noticed the same thing last night.. I set up a replacement today. I am also having headaches. I had another iPhone 12 mini before this and didn't notice any of these problems.

Hi, thank you for your reply. So the new iPhone 12 mini solves the headache problems? I feel like I'm on the boat with big waves:).

So my new one is causing the problems.. My old one has the touchscreen issues (that were fixed yesterday via software). My old mini didn't have any of the issues my new one has. I'm going to return again and see if I can get a good one because these headaches are killer.

Yes, the flickering is crazy. My last phone was ANDROID with AMOLED and have no problems at all. This is unusable. Crazy that apple can release this product with so bad screen.

Yeah I didn't notice the flickering at all on my first 12 mini. This second one I could notice right away. I got an instant headache when I started using it.

What phone were you using before your 12 mini?

No, unfortunately it has the same PWM flicker as past OLED phones.... in fact the flicker is even a bit worse on the Mini. The only saving grace I think is the smaller display, which for some people SEEMS to make it less problematic, since it is a smaller surface area that is strobing at them.

I am one of those- still on the fence- it is not causing me terrible headaches or anything, but it does produce a bit of a sharp feeling in my eyes, as well as dry/odd feeling eyes compared to when I use my regular 11 with an LCD display.

I see it happening on a 12mini, 12 but not as much on 12 Pro Max. Not sure if that's more common for OLED or just handled differently by iOS and the refresh rate of the screens.

I'm going to try the second 12 mini on Monday because I can't really use mine. The display is horrible for my eyes. I have tried it all weekend but every time I'm ending with headache and eye pain. Probably I'm going to buy 11 with LCD because iPhone OLED isn't for me.

UPDATE: So I have tried the second iPhone 12 mini with the same problem. Purple ghosting when scrolling in the black menu, unacceptable flickering display.
I'm sad because I was happy with the form factor of this phone but I bought iPhone 11. Only one apple option with LCD. I don't want to permanently damage my eyes just because of the phone and "amazing OLED".
To be honest I can't really see so dramatic difference between LCD and OLED - except watching videos in a dark environment. But it's a tradeoff for healthy eyes.
