Going to likely be getting new phones for my wife and I, we both have XS... trying to decide if the 13 is worth it over the 12 for the extra money considering it seemed to be only a very slight upgrade.

Or just get the 13 because it's newer.

Also I wish it wasn't named 13 because you know, unlucky stigma's! lol

Thoughts? :)

Get the 13. If you find a much better deal for the 12, then get the 12. There's a likely chance you'll get the 14 since many rumors pointing to a redesign so 13 will have a better trade in value :p

In the same boat, but XS Max. Also have "grandfathered" TMO plan, so they won't give me a "free" 13 without me almost doubling my monthly payment. Blek.

But the Apple TMO deal on a "plain ol'" iphone 12 works out to $179 after trade-in + $200 bill credits. Sure, those bill credits are BS, like a laughable $8.33/month, but it's better than nothing.

Debating on at least trying out the smaller form factor to see if I can get with it. If I'm unhappy, can do the 14 day return OR use the insane trade-in value on the Best Buy deal and pay an extra $80 to get the 13 (if the deal is still going on).

I think, this will end to how much $$ you can afford. Feature-wise, 12 vs 13 are not much different for everyday use.

upgraded to…an iPhone 12.

First of all – – it was in stock and it was nice to be able to walk out the door with a new phone, which I desperately needed anyway.

coming from an XS max, the screen looks just as crisp and clear. I was concerned about brightness, but so far it’s not a noticeable difference despite the specs indicating otherwise. It’s also quite snappy.

I thought I would really miss the extra real estate, but so far I am appreciating the light weight and the easier maneuverability around the screen more. It doesn’t hurt that my total net cost will be only $200 after trade-in and the bill credits. The mint green color I picked is unusual too, in a good way.

Every reply basically says get the 13, for good reason.

Enjoy your iPhone 12

Keep the 12 or get the 13 pro, no point getting the 13 if you have the 12.

I’m not the OP, just someone with the XS Max who debated the same thing and landed on the 12 for both cost and availability. Maybe my experience will help the OP, maybe it won’t.

Oh I worried I wouldn’t get much of an upgrade from a XS to a 13 pro.

I certainly did. If a camera is your thing then certainly
