I’ve had my iPhone 12 Pro since October and after a full month of using it i was quite pleased with the battery life. Coming from a X it was noticeably better. I could work my 9 hour shift with average use and get home with 40% left. It’s January now and my phone goes down like 10%+ an hour with the same use.
I know batteries degrade over time but wow so soon? Now i’m worried about keeping a charger with me again like with my X. How is everyone else’s battery life?

Still 100% here (12 and 12 Pro Max).
(Or 104% according to Coconut Battery app on the Mac.)

check your background app switches and turn them off for the apps that won’t benefit you by being instantly up to date.

Check your battery health with Coconutbattery or iMazing. Probably yours is going down and fast. It should keep around 103-104% with reasonable use. We have two 12 Pro in your family and other is keeping high around 103.5% no matter what but other going down all the time.

Mine started also as high as your but within few days dropped to around 101%. Way to fast and seems going down every day. Only using 5W charger + cable and I've been babying the battery.

Cold batteries don't last long
What? Could you elaborate?
Anyway, in your family there are two 6.1" 12 Pro's bought at the same time and both used in the same conditions and other has the same battery health as new (103-104%) but other only 101%. Both phones had the same battery health out of the box but weaker one started to drop battery health within few days and has been going down day by day ever since while other is stable and mostly even moving upwards... The one with the weaker battery has been babied while stronger one has been abused, so it is simply question of the battery quality between the two.

This should help, per official guidance from Apple:

Avoid extreme ambient temperatures.

Your device is designed to perform well in a wide range of ambient temperatures, with 16° to 22° C (62° to 72° F) as the ideal comfort zone. It’s especially important to avoid exposing your device to ambient temperatures higher than 35° C (95° F), which can permanently damage battery capacity. That is, your battery won’t power your device as long on a given charge. Charging the device in high ambient temperatures can damage it further. Software may limit charging above 80% when the recommended battery temperatures are exceeded. Even storing a battery in a hot environment can damage it irreversibly. When using your device in a very cold environment, you may notice a decrease in battery life, but this condition is temporary. Once the battery’s temperature returns to its normal operating range, its performance will return to normal as well.

I started at 104% too and a few days later it’s down to ~101% and I too have only been using a 5w charger and babying the battery. Is the trick to fast charge the hell out of it at the start then switch to the 5w a month or so down the road? @0906742 seems to be saying something similar. Two phones, one babied and one abused, the abused is still at 104% and the babied 101%. Interesting.
