Is it just me or do the buttons (power and volume) seem to have less travel compared to the iPhone 11s. Could be the edge or just by design, don't know. The buttons seem slightly harder to press in comparison.

I have the same issue. The power button of my iPhone 12 Pro has not travel at all, is hard to press and feels “mushy”

Completely agree with this, especially with a case on. Same case as on my XR and the buttons on that are really pronounced so much easier to press.

Baffles me how such basic things aren't picked up in testing. Unless it was and they decided it needed to make way for something else.

Interesting, OP. I feel like mine is pretty tactile and offers a solid click. I use an apple leather case which covers the button and lends no problems. I also use a Tozo and Caudabe case which expose the power button. No issues there either. Maybe take it to an open apple store and have them look at it.
