I just compared my iPhone 12 Pro to my iPhone 11 Pro and noticed that the blacks are appearing differently.

At first I thought the 12 was not getting as black but upon further testing, it’s actually that the 12 seems to do a much better job showing near black colours!

I tried the video linked below and at RVB 15 and above, the 12 has nice even greys while the 11 is very greenish and uneven. Looks like the screen improvement between the 11 and 12 is quite real.

Wow the 12 Pro display is amazing.

iPhone 11 Pro: I can only see the lipstick holder

iPhone 12 Pro: I can see the lipstick too and the red shade in the background

I can see the lipstick and the background shade on my 11 Pro at that time stamp.

Maybe they’re doing better job showing near black, but at the expense of not showing true inky oled blacks. At least this is the problem with my iPhone 12 pro. Black bars in the photos app for example now appears almost like LCD screen with some sort of background light. Most of the people though won’t even notice this since it’s only noticeable in very dark environment but it’s definitely wrong calibration.

Same issue for me. Blacks are no longer pixel off. It’s even more obvious around bright elements on a black background. Try the clock app in dark mode in a dark room at relatively low brightness.
I sure hope Apple fix this if it’s a widespread issue.
