iPhone 12 Pro & iOS 14.2 no recent contacts in share sheet

Hi folks. This has actually been happening for months on end with my older 8 Plus and iOS 13, but current spec is as per thread title. When using the share sheet there is no list of recent contacts to choose for quick access. Having searched the web, all I can see is people wanting to remove the list, but I have the opposite problem - I want the list of quick access contacts but it's not there. It's there on my iPad Pro 11" also running iPadOS 14.2

Any help would be much appreciated.

My iPad Pro and iPhone xR are on 14.2 and recent contacts show as expected. After upgrading to 14 though they didn't show at first. Within a few days of messaging those contacts after that upgrade, they appeared in the share sheet and have stayed there. It behaved as though they needed to be refreshed or repopulated after the upgrade.

Thanks but they have been missing for several months, even before iOS 14, and the problem has persisted onto my new iPhone. I guess I will have to setup again as a new phone or at least try Reset All Settings.

For the benefit of those who may perhaps stumble upon this thread via the search at a later time, the issue was resolved by doing a Rest All Settings. Share Sheet now functions as expected and displays recent contacts for quick access.

A curious problem that persisted through backups and even onto a new phone, but there you have it. The reset worked for me. It's also always nice to have a fresh install of sorts without losing any data 👍
