iPhone 12 Pro Max black vertical stripes when moving the phone horizontal.
Filming in 4k or HD doesn't matter
It's more noticeable when filming with 30fps.

Look at the YouTube Video. Look at the white wall and the refrigerator.

Exactly the same issues here but with my 12 pro. I’ve had 3 replacement phones since release and I get the same problem with all of them. Also notice in your video the flicker / strobing effect in the highlights. I get this all the time in every video, even when out in great natural sunlight the whole video flickers. I haven’t shot a single video yet that I would say was useable.

That's crazy. Please let me know what solves the problem at the end.
Lets find out if this issues with all iPhone 12 12pro and 12pro max or only several iPhones.

To be honest I’m about ready to return my 12 pro for a refund. I’ve spent a couple of hours already in Apple stores at the Genius Bar and the best they can do is to tell me that it might be a software issue and there’s no guarantee it’ll be fixed even if it is. Other than this issue it’s a great phone, but I need something I can use and rely on for video and this just isn’t working for me.

Looks like a software issue.. I remember a thread on Reddit a few years ago where people complained about the identical issue on 7+ and 8+ running iOS11.. It was fixed in one of the updates midway before iOS12 was released...

I have the same problem, went to the genius bar and got it replaced with a new one. But its still the same in the new one too. I have the pro max. Even the genius bar guys were clueless about the issue. If its software, I am surprised how not many people have reported this already.

One more video with the issue. The lines are clearly visible in this.
These are exactly what I’m seeing. I’ve seen some people saying that it’s because I’m moving the camera around too fast or whatever, but even if I put the camera on a tripod and lock the exposure, if I walk through the frame it seems to confuse the camera and it starts flickering again as if it’s trying to account for the change in the frame’s average brightness levels. It’s so weird.

The genius bar ppl have no clue as well. The videos i see on youtube with 12 are soooo good. I am just pissed off with this now. Contacted customer support and they said they would call back tomorrow. Lets hope they fix this soon

Yeah hopefully a software fix will be all it takes. I’m still contemplating returning it, but at the end of the day I need a phone, and it pretty much needs to be an iPhone for now as I run my business with all Apple hardware. Annoys the hell out of me though.

Im also in the same situation.
I had a call with the support, they will replace mine. BUT they want me to send it in to get my new 12pro @ Dez 12th lol. almost 3 weeks without a phone.... that makes my preorder super useless.
And right now I'm not in the mood to copy 150GB to my 512GB phone again....

Yikes, I noticed this issue on one of the 12 Pro Max camera reviews, I thought it was just the exposure trying to lock in, but now I know it's a real issue people are facing. I really hope a software fix resolves this and that Apple is aware of it.

I guess I'll return (until Jan.7th) the iphone and buy an new one during the Black Friday to get some "money" back LOL For such a huge issue the gotta pay me. Lets find out if there will be any "gifts" buying the iPhone during BlackFriday.

Hello,

I have a similar problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max -- black vertical stripes when moving the phone.

Please take a look at the attached video.
It is very clear around the sun... black ugly vertical lines. I took this vid HD/60. Hope someone can help or point me to the right direction. I did not play with camera app settings. I didn't have similar problems my previous iPhones.

TIA,
Nick-

I ordered 2 additional 12 pro max 512GB for myself and 1 additional iPhone 12 pro max 512GB for my girlfriend. All phones GOT THE SAME ISSUES!!! 5 phones....
Issues? Yes

Meanwhile i found a 2nd issue. on ALL OF THEM
The iphone starts stuttering when scrolling through all content menus and so on, even scrolling in the settings app its not smooth anymore.......
I did a clean install and clean data drop (no backup no restoring no iCloud) I've installed everything FRESH...!
and after i droped photos Videos Music Podcasts Round about 150GB on my 512GB phone. It started to stutter...
Same issues with the iPhone from my GF and same with the 3 additional ones from above...
The dude @ the Genius Bar didn't know anything about it.
So what's the result?
I'm frustrated and pissed.
But i need a phone and its not the way it should be.
so current status I've retuned 3 iPhones...

So we've to hope for an magical update.... to solve the issues...(I mean updating to iphone 13 to get new issues than... lol)

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you. This is very frustrating. I’m sorry for all your troubles. I’m not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue...since all five of your phones had the same problem. By the way, I do not have the scrolling issue.

I’m also thinking to post something on Apple’s forum. Perhaps others are having problems. I wonder if this issue is happening with the 12 Pro?

I am hoping that updating to 14.3 will help. If it doesn’t help, this leaves me with a leave it or live with it dilemma.
