My 12 pro max has started doing this the latest couple days, earlier today I pressed Software Update in settings and the screen froze. I was able to swipe up from the bottom but when I returned it was still the same, waited about 20 seconds then it closed itself to the Home Screen and back to normal.

Took a screenshot, not that it shows you much lol

It's the settings app that freezes sometimes in iOS 14. Never had this happen on iOS 13 but with 14, I had it twice on my iPhone 11 and once on my X. So it's more of an iOS 14 thing than a problem with your 12 Pro Max 😉

Happens to my wife’s 12 pro max often. Usually in camera (picture in the camera view stays black but the camera indicator dot comes on and nothing in the app works), phone, or safari. Things just freeze but you can still swipe up and quit the frozen app. Sometimes it happens right away again once you reopen the same app. Has happened from day one and seemed to have gotten slightly better with the most recent update. I don’t think it’s the same issue people had on the mini with the lock screen. Unfortunately too busy to take the thing back to Apple (plus their Fort Knox approach at the store irritates us) or spend hours on the help line with them.

As of 2020, iOS actually has more bugs than Android running even on 100 bux phones. It is a shame. Somebody needs to take responsibility.

My IPhone 12 Pro Max has been freezing on any app screen. Even if I switch to another screen when I come back to that screen it is still frozen unless I clear it from open apps snd start over. It’s been happening more often. And my phone is currently updated.

I wanted to provide an update. A few weeks ago we received a replacement phone from Apple. I restored her iCloud backup of the problem phone onto the new one and she has not had any issues with the new phone yet (knock on wood - I hope this is the end of the issues).
