Two new camera modes could be coming to some models of Apple's "iPhone 12," according to YouTube channel EverythingApplePro and Max Weinbach.

Specifically, the video modes are said to include the ability to shoot 4K video at 120fps and 240fps. The new modes are thought to be coming to Apple's higher-end "iPhone 12 Pro" and "iPhone 12 Pro Max".

Weinbach reportedly tore down the Camera app in the recently released developer build of iOS 14 and found references to the new video modes.

Weinbach's Apple source subsequently confirmed that Apple is internally testing these new camera modes for upcoming iPhones, and that they'll likely be reserved for the higher-end models in this year's upcoming lineup.

Camera improvements are expected in the "iPhone 12" lineup. For example, rumors suggest some of the new iPhone models coming in 2020 will feature a 3D camera, which sounds like the LiDAR Scanner feature that Apple added in the 2020 iPad Pro models.

However the new 4K shooting modes are probably something to do with Apple's A14 chip. Current iPhones are limited to 4K at 60fps and 1080p at 240fps.

Apple plans to release four "‌iPhone 12‌" models with OLED displays in the fall, including one 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch models, and one 6.7-inch model, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. All of the devices are expected to support 5G and they may sport a new design that includes more of a flat edged metal frame like the iPad Pro or ‌iPhone‌ 4.

So more base storage please. Imagine shooting in 4K with measly 64GB storage. You’d soon run out of storage space. You can still opt not to use 4K but. What’s the point if adding the feature if you can’t use it quite often.

The top end models won't start at 64 GB.

Didn't Apple offer higher storage options?
With the iPad Pros getting 128GB base, I think it should be expected to see at least the iPhone Pros getting 128GB base.

Apple Mac Silicon will be able to record 8k with the new facetime camera at 512 fps

If you plan on shooting a lot of 4K then you should opt for purchasing more memory. Easy.

So what? As technology evolves CPUs and GPUs are getting faster - that's it. But currently we see a breakdown for 8K TV displays. There is no reason for anyone to buy an 8K TV.
Same is true for the phones - there may be a point where really nobody cares anymore. Might be interesting if Apple had an action cam to offer.

I mean yay? Dont take many pics and basically zero videos (never used slow-mo). It's cool for spec purposes, but Im looking for more than a batter camera and square sides (hidden by a case)

Yes 5G and 120hz is great, they are big technology steps. But is that going to get 10S or 11 Pro users to upgrade? Especially with a pandemic and people already not spending money. 5G is basically useless right now in the US except very limited pockets. I dont see that changing for a few years at this pace either. And 120hz is nice but buy a new $1000+ phone for it? Never used a 120hz ipad so not missing out on what could be.

Now if they shrink the notch you have to stare at all day per the rumors, thats a huge upgrade since you see that ho many dozens/hundreds of times per day. That's a big "ok I see the change every day now" thing. It changs the whole device feel like using an iphone and then some Android with a teardrop notch. It just feels like a bigger display instantly.

Im having a hard time for the first time ever justifying upgrading this year. Unless something big like that notch gets smaller.

Although I wouldn’t say no to a larger base storage, 64GB has been just right for me personally. I use about 40GB and store music and photos on the cloud.
Everybody will have different storage requirements. At 64GB, we are definitely at a comfortable level for many regular people.

I'll say the non pros will start at 64GB, while the pros will start at 128GB.

Personally, 128GB is the sweet spot for me for smartphone use, although I can probably force myself to a 64GB (can, but probably don't want to :D).

I really hope that the iPhone 12 won't have a notch at all. If they want to make this exclusive to the Pro Max version fine .
They can have a 1 cm top that is black and no notch. Nobody is going to care about a 1 CM black top and 80% bezel less display. I'm getting interested in upgrading from my 8 plus and I hope to skip the notched screens. I don't want the super android hole punch screens either.
