Guys, I've noticed my iPhone 12 Pro is considerably slower than my wife's iPhone X all round. It is is especially slow when on Safari.

I tested this by going on to Macrumors and testing how quick pages load. I clicked links at the same time and the X was by far and away quicker. I tested a couple of other sites and the same thing on all. X much quicker than 12 Pro.

On my 12 Pro ads and pics load very slowly so at times the pages are totally blank. At times, when typing, letters appear a little later.

Both on WiFi. Battery life is similar. Storage is ample.

Surely a X shouldn't be quicker than a 12 Pro.

Are both phones on the same iOS version? Are there Safari extensions running on either phone? Do you have a mesh wifi system and if so are both phones connecting to the same access point?

The assumption is that the X runs 16.4 a lot better than the 12 runs 18.4.

At a minimum you should be using something like ADB to block all ads on Safari. No iPhone owner should know how fast ads take to load on their device!

This will speed up your browsing no end. The 12 was also an experimental phone for Apple, with notoriously bad battery management and a poor cell to start with. The 13 ironed out all of its kinks to become the best S-year for the iPhone in its history.

This could be caused by several things, restoring your phone may be able to fix it.
Thanks paddle1 for your reply. What kind of things could cause this? I was going to do a full reset on the weekend but got side tracked by car issues. But will try a reset soon.

Thanks aperfectccircle.

Wife and I are running exactly the same everything. And no mesh. All connected to the same WiFi.

Thanks winxmac. I'm going to do a clean install then install AdGuard.

My goodness, I hate doing clean installs. The anxiety once it's all done and until you know all your stuff is as it should is excruciating 🤣
