Hello everyone! I’m new to MacRumors Forum and figured this would be the best spot to ask this question. I’m moving over to T-Mobile trying to save some money and they have a great promotion going on for the iPhone 12 On Us and I’m very indecisive on which color iPhone to get. I’m between the purple and the black. After reading more on the black, I’m learning that the paint chips off after time and that worries me a little, especially with it being such an expensive phone; if this has happened to your black iPhone 12, please let me know! I’m not looking to get the iPhone 13 either since the deal is for the iPhone 12 and again, trying to save some moolah! All opinions are welcome :)

I am not aware of any recent paint chipping problems with the black color.

If put your phone in a case all the time, the color of the phone will be covered up in most areas all the time. Flip a coin and make the decision easy. It's just a phone.

While not the same finish, I've got a jet black iPhone 7 and I think it's the worst color an iPhone can possibly be. I'd never buy another black phone again.
1. Heat magnet
2. Harder to tell at a glance what side is what or if it's upside down.
It's my least favorite color

Even the classic dorky white iPhone is better than black (in my opinion)
