So my iPhone was giving me some issues so I decided to wipe and restore from a backup I did a few days ago on my Mac. I've restored iPhones hundreds of times before.

However, upon a so-called successful restore, I find that none of the apps have restored. All my settings, wallpapers, images have restored; but not a single app (except the built in ones). I wipe the phone again and restored from another, older backup. Same thing. Everything restored except for the apps.

I gave up, thinking the backup files somehow got corrupted. Then when I started downloading the apps I had before, they started getting placed to the same position on my home screen that they were before the restore. All the app data was also there from all apps I downloaded. So the data was somewhere in the phone as well.

I have no idea what happened here. I've been restoring iPhones from backup for nearly 10 years now. It has always gone smooth, with no issues.
