I'm not sure if this is an iOS 17 issue or not. I've had iOS17 installed since release but have had two recent occasions where my iPhone 13 has become extremely hot for no apparent reason. For context, the Apple replaced the phone about four months ago so its a relatively new phone, still with 100% battery health. The first time the issue occurred was a few days ago. The phone was in my pocket so not even being used but it felt so hot it was scalding me. When I unlocked the phone and closed recently open apps, it cooled down pretty quickly.
It occurred again yesterday, but this time I was using the phone. I was just scrolling a regular news website on Safari, nothing particularly intensive. The only times I've felt my phone get this hot previously is when my kids were playing some GPU intensive game.
Edited to add that the Camera has also been somewhat jittery / slow to respond / crashed frequently after these occurrences also.
