This morning, when I went to create a text, several people were in the vicinity and I noticed that their conversations were appearing where I normally type in the text.

Usually, to achieve this, i.e., to dictate a text, one has to tap the microphone below the keyboard in order to do so. Well, my iPhone is now “taking dictation" everywhere!

When I open Safari on the iPhone and search, I can dictate my search terms without tapping on the microphone next to the keyboard.

If I go to Settings > Keyboard > and turn Dictation off, that removes the microphone from the keyboard and I don’t want to do that because that cripples my ability to dictate when I choose to do so.

I also noted a new icon on the iPhone home page and here is a link to a screenshot showing it.

Does anyone recognize this icon? Know how to turn this off?
