My family is trying to convince me to trade-in my iPhone 8 for a newer iPhone, and I am looking at the iPhone 13 Mini. On my old iPhone 8 I have an Otterbox case and a Shield Glass + screen protector. Was wondering if cases and screen protectors are all that necessary with the newer iPhone. Seem to remember reading that the newer ones are designed with more protection and with better screens. Just glancing at this forum leads me to believe that that isn't true or that case/screen protector manufactures are convincing people to continue to purchase them. Looking for opinions as to how necessary they are and, if necessary, good ones to get. Thanks!

necessary?
no.
a good idea for piece of mind and protection from damage?
yes.
there are many good ones of both, from inexpensive to very expensive.
whenever you ask what are good ones, the answers will almost always be what the person responding happens to have.
