Yeah agreed - especially seeing the touchid on the new ipad mini, which could move over to reduce faceid tech costs.

12 mini owner here, I hope the 13 brings better battery life :)

I don’t think so. I think the Mini will officially go away but become the new SE.
That would be nice...the SE is such a dated design that I can't imagine that Apple will want to carry it indefinitely. But, there's still such a huge delta in price between the SE and the mini.

Yay ordered 2 minis. The last small size phone I had was the 5S and am so looking forward to getting back. Got 1 256gb Blue with California Poppy wallet and 1 128GB pink for the mrs. With the battery upgrades this year and minor camera improvements - couldnt ask for anything more I guess.

I've gone back and forth between the 12 Mini and 13 Mini but ultimately decided to stick with the 12 Mini and then pick up a cheaper new 13 Mini maybe this time next year.

I know it's all but certain that Apple will not offer a 'mini' sized phone in the 14 lineup, or at least a phone smaller than the current 13/13 Pro, but if they do I'll certainly go for that.

Even though sales of the mini have been weaker overall, surely Apple must acknowledge there is a chunk of users who prefer smaller phones. The first gen SE was too small, the mini seems to be the sweet spot.

I stand in solidarity with you Mini users; I had to order a larger iPhone 13 because the disparity of battery equity among iPhones. Power to the Minis! let the world hear our voice!

Just ordered the 13 gave the wife my 12 mini great devices.
Same here. Happy with my 12 mini but my wife wants it so I’m moving to the 13 mini. Disappointed in the extra weight, really the things I would most like to see improved are the weight (which has regressed) and the screen (poor off axis color shifts with as little as five degrees off axis), so I’m prepared to be disappointed because one is getting worse and the other they haven’t spoken about. When you want a small phone you take what you can get.

I disagree. If you look at the lineup, there are now two mini models available. The odd one out is the iPhone 11. I think next year they’ll discontinue the existing SE and release an upgraded SE in the 11 chassis with a full LED screen and power button Touch ID. Then I think the next SE after that one will be based on the mini form factor, once the mini 12 and 13 have percolated their way down the lineup.

Didn’t get a mini this time but it feels awesome in hand. Last year I tried the 12 mini for 2 weeks and honestly it was just the battery that made me go to the 6’1. Now with that touch extra weight it will feel super premium in hand and battery looks very promising.

I don’t think the mini is going to become the next SE.

I think they want the SE to be a more general purpose device and they might see it as too small for that role.

I don't think the SE has anything to do with size. It has to do with a mature design for which Apple can get parts (already got parts?) for extremely cheap; that would suggest a mature and popular form factor, and the mini isn't either, yet. I think this is the SE that we have for another couple of years. That would be consistent with the two prior versions, at least. And the current SE is an extremely capable phone.

EDIT: Oops, I mean consistent with the first version. The design and engineering choices broadly looked the same for the first two, but we don't yet know how long they'll stick with this design in this second iteration, so we don't know if four years is what they plan on as a baseline.

Can’t wait for my 13 Mini. Excited to go back to a small form factor… I’ve suffered for two long years with this 11 Pro Max!

I don't think so. The iPhone SE models were always the regular size of the previous generation; similar for the iPad budget models (the budget iPad will never be an iPad mini). But I think Apple may just skip generations for a mini iPhone, like they did with the iPad mini, and we may have a new mini in 3-5 years.
