I got my Sierra Blue iPhone 13 Pro Max and am restoring it from an iCloud backup. I noticed it was beginning to get really hot, so I went into Settings to see how far along it was and saw that it had been paused and would resume when the iPhone cooled down. After about 10 minutes it began the restore process. I've never experienced this with any iPhone, anyone else have this happen?

This is happening to me too. iPhone 13 Pro. I’m assuming it’s because it’s downloading my entire iTunes library, and I’m also assuming this happened in the past but iOS just didn’t tell you that? Maybe. Something to keep an eye on anyway.

I got the 1 TB model, and it’s not the max. Is yours 1 TB also?

did you install the software update once the restore was done? Not sure if it was possible to do before. Thanks for the answers.

I had similar issues with my SE2020 in the ios 15 beta Phase. After I switched to 14 the heat problems has gone.

I am getting the same message on my 13 Pro 256 GB Sierra Blue model, but it looks like it is still syncing. When I first saw the message, it said 12.2 GB left to go, and now it shows 8.0 GB.

Are you charging the phone at the same time, or maybe even worse, wirelessly charging it? It will get warm as it restores because it’s processing a lot of data and being on a charger at the same time, which will also produce heat, might be too much.

Mine did this too. Just wait. It will finish when it feels ready, lol. I held mine up in front of my tower fan a few times to cool it off. Then I had to charge it because it went below 50%, so that didn’t help with the heat. But it’s just about finished now.

It finished restoring and it's cool . I was using lightning-to USB-C cable. Putting it in the fridge did the trick ;) Kidding
