I have an iPhone 13 Pro that is heating up really easily. Screen is constantly auto dimming. I have done the following and it has not corrected itself…

• Dimmed screen to 75%
• Closed all apps
• Turned off background apps

I’ve done some other basic things that I can’t remember. Using a tempered glass screen protector and a Spigen Tough Armor case.

Any suggestions or thoughts??

Thanks in advance for your time.

How long has this been happening. Did you do anything to your phone just before this “heating” began?

Switch off/on, update to latest iOS firmware, etc…

How old is the phone, when did these problems begin?

That case doesn’t give much room for the device to cool down. Turn it off for 10 mins and remove it from the case. Try to replicate the issue by doing whatever you were doing when it heated up before without the case.

It’s been a while now (probably 6 months) and I thought it was normal but it seems much more frequent now.

It’s a really good case IMO but I am thinking that this could possibly be the issue as well. However, I have done that when the phone cooled and screen returned to normal and it will still seem to heat up and shut down. Just not sure it’s the same timing as when the case is on. If that makes sense.

Go into the battery information and see which app is consuming the most power. When you say it it heating up, what are you doing on your phone?

Yesterday it was taking pictures and video outside. Video was very short. Didn’t go off then. After a bunch of photos, screen dimmed. It’s not anything consistent. Sometimes I can watch videos and nothing happens and sometimes it will dim. Same with games or gmail or pretty much anything. Hasn’t been anything specific.

My suggestion is to try using your phone without the case. If the phone still overheats, do an encrypted backup to a Finder/iTunes on a Mac/Windows computer. Needs to be an encrypted backup. Do a Recovery Mode Restore and setup the phone as new device, don’t restore from the backup. Use the phone as you normally would and see if the phone still has overheating issues. Apple will want you to try this as a debugging step. If you still have the issue then I suggest maybe get your phone replaced.

Thanks. I will try that.
