Hey guys, so i just recently upgraded from a samsung galaxy s8 to an iphone 13 pro. The iphone has a 0,3 inch bigger screen but is bit shorter and thinner than my s8. Although the iphone is wider. I tried it at a store and the 13 pro felt bigger but manageable. I thought no big deal. I can use my old phone perfectly with one hand, the iphone isn't going to be a problem. But when i bought it i found out i couldn't do anything while walking or at the gym, or carrying something with one hand. Because of the added weight, the square design, the control center that is on the top right. This phone felt sooo much bigger than my s8. I could barely manage manage without a case, but that was risky. So i got a thin case. With the apple leather case it became unusable to me.I can barely type on the keyboard with one hand. It fits much worse in my pockets. I started reading that others upgrading thought the same but got used to it in about 2-7 days. I tried reachability, but it wasn't a comfortable gesture to do many times per day. I added an assistive touch button which helpful, but it's annoying to be on your display all the time. I used a one handed keyboard. I started to use shortcuts and siri to automate tasks. I also treid back tap but it was very unreliable. The weight was also an issue. It weighed 42% more with the case than my old s8. I can hold it a long time but it is uncomfortable and your fingers get tired. I was so torn thinking everyday whether to return it or not. When using the 13 pro at home or at the office, with two hands its an amazing phone. Big screen, the speakers are amazing. But i'd rather use my laptop at those places. I wanted to like it because it's an amazing phone. But i couldn't and after 10 days i returned it.
How do you guys use it in a busy day when you need to reply with one hand? like at the supermarket, gym, while walking? How do you reach control center if you are left handed? How do you reach the top of the screen? If you use reachability, don't your hands get tired after you do the gesture 20-30 times?
So i guess i have to get the 13mini. I am not looking forward to a 15% smaller display than my last phone, and worse cameras, battery life and speakers than the 13 pro. But i think its going to be a fun phone.
I have used an iphone XS briefly and i can use that phone fine without a case. It is comfortable. The 13 pro feels like a plus sized phone. Because of the square design, and ios placing some controls at the top it is much harder to use comfortably. I am astounded at how it's almost the same size as my last phone but feels so much bigger. I am scared there won't be any small phones in the future. The 13 pro is considered normal sized, and some reviewers even call it compact.
