Hey guys, so i just recently upgraded from a samsung galaxy s8 to an iphone 13 pro. The iphone has a 0,3 inch bigger screen but is bit shorter and thinner than my s8. Although the iphone is wider. I tried it at a store and the 13 pro felt bigger but manageable. I thought no big deal. I can use my old phone perfectly with one hand, the iphone isn't going to be a problem. But when i bought it i found out i couldn't do anything while walking or at the gym, or carrying something with one hand. Because of the added weight, the square design, the control center that is on the top right. This phone felt sooo much bigger than my s8. I could barely manage manage without a case, but that was risky. So i got a thin case. With the apple leather case it became unusable to me.I can barely type on the keyboard with one hand. It fits much worse in my pockets. I started reading that others upgrading thought the same but got used to it in about 2-7 days. I tried reachability, but it wasn't a comfortable gesture to do many times per day. I added an assistive touch button which helpful, but it's annoying to be on your display all the time. I used a one handed keyboard. I started to use shortcuts and siri to automate tasks. I also treid back tap but it was very unreliable. The weight was also an issue. It weighed 42% more with the case than my old s8. I can hold it a long time but it is uncomfortable and your fingers get tired. I was so torn thinking everyday whether to return it or not. When using the 13 pro at home or at the office, with two hands its an amazing phone. Big screen, the speakers are amazing. But i'd rather use my laptop at those places. I wanted to like it because it's an amazing phone. But i couldn't and after 10 days i returned it.

How do you guys use it in a busy day when you need to reply with one hand? like at the supermarket, gym, while walking? How do you reach control center if you are left handed? How do you reach the top of the screen? If you use reachability, don't your hands get tired after you do the gesture 20-30 times?

So i guess i have to get the 13mini. I am not looking forward to a 15% smaller display than my last phone, and worse cameras, battery life and speakers than the 13 pro. But i think its going to be a fun phone.
I have used an iphone XS briefly and i can use that phone fine without a case. It is comfortable. The 13 pro feels like a plus sized phone. Because of the square design, and ios placing some controls at the top it is much harder to use comfortably. I am astounded at how it's almost the same size as my last phone but feels so much bigger. I am scared there won't be any small phones in the future. The 13 pro is considered normal sized, and some reviewers even call it compact.

The 13/13 Pro is a 2 handed phone. Buy a Mini.
This.

I had the same problems OP, just couldn't get used to the size of the 13 Pro. Switched to a 13 mini and it's perfect. I'd love the larger 120hz screen, the better camera, the premium look of the 13 Pro, but the biggest factor for me is one-handed use and a phone that doesn't feel weighty or bulky so the 13 mini is the best option for me and probably you.

The iPhone 12/13 series can feel pretty unwieldy. One thing that help me out is getting a grippy silicone case. I have slightly bigger than average size hands so mileage can vary but it took me about 13 days to adjust to the iPhone 13 Pro Max coming from an iPhone 12.

Did not do anything special to adjust, just used the iPhone like I normally do while struggling with the extra weight and size.

Did feel the same sense of frustration before my body kind of auto adapted to the phone this is particularly true especially before getting a good case.

While the iPhone 13 Pro Max was initially almost unbearably unwieldy, the size of the screen, ProMotion, unbelievable battery life and amazing cameras made it hard to part with. I am glad ultimately I was able to adapt, even though it took me some time.

P.S. Type this single handedly, hopefully it works out for you, regardless of which iPhone you finally decide upon. Best of luck.

I agree with the ring case. I’ve got a 13 pro max, and I certainly couldn’t hold the phone with one hand and use it without the ring case. There are still some targets in the upper corners I can’t reach, but I can definitely get by, and it’s worth it for the larger phone size.

Thank you for your reply.
I am amazed at how fast the market has moved and what used to be huge is now a compact phone. The iphone 13 mini is the only premium small option. People compare it to the galaxy z flip, but that thing can't be used one handed when unfolded. I love how in reddit in the 12/13 mini subredits people often post that they love their mini and are going to keep it forever. People write love letters about it and write posts about contemplating the meaning of life with a small phone. They have a passion for them that i have rarely seen about other products. In the 13 pro/ pro max forums people are much more chill. They just say, "Hey all, nice to see you again. I upgraded this year too". They post pictures from their camera or say the phone has amazing battery life.
I am definitely going to get the 13 mini. It looks so cool. How has your battery life been?

Thank you for your reply and good luck wish. I tried a popsocket with the apple leather case. You made me wonder is my hand size average or small? So i read that the average hand length for men is 7.6 inches. My hands are 6.6 inches long. So, a bit small. I am glad you adjusted to your phone. I am definitely getting the mini now. I didnt adjut at all in 10 days. It may also be because i wasn't very efficient with ios. I hadn't used it in years. After 2-3 years there probably will be no mini phone according to the rumors so i will learn to adjust too.

I love the mini, I'm disappointed Apple aren't making a 14 mini but I'll be holding on to this for years - or at least until Apple bring out a similarly sized device in the future (if that ever happens).

Battery life is fine. It's a noticeable improvement over the 12 mini and from my own use I'd compare it to the battery life of the 12 Pro. For most people they won't have any issues with it. If you're using it heavily (games, browsing internet, videos, FaceTime etc) for hours and hours it won't last all day but with normal use it'll easily get through the day and longer.

I don't have the 13 Pro, but I do have the 11 Pro Max and before that the 6s+.

I use two hands. That's my solution.

Nothing is so important that I must immediately reply or answer in such a way that forces me to one hand and risk damaging a device worth over $1000.

I'm not explaining that to my wife.
