So after an app update the phone crashed won't turn on. Tried hard reset and won't work. Tried charging it and iTunes won't detect it any ideas?

Sounds like a trip to an Apple store will be necessary to diagnose the problem.. I'm sure you tried different cables and charging bricks?
By "Hard reset" I'm assuming you mean Force Restart... if not, try that. Try it SEVERAL times, the timing is pretty particular.
If that doesn't do it, @BugeyeSTI has it right - store or service center.
