Looks like the regular 14's does not have last year's Pro ultra wide camera, thus no macro mode/3x optical zoom in. This is much more useful in my experience with the 13pm than a action cam or stabilize front facing camera.

Nope, the regular models don't get macro mode - Pro models only.
 
It says right there that the 14 Plus has an Ultra Wide lens. It's the Telephoto lens that the regular iPhones lack.

Yes, but I believe it is the Ultrawide lens that the 13 pro and 14 pro use for macro mode. The 13 pro had different cameras than the regular 13, a whole new system and not just the extra lens. The OP is noting that the improved ultra-wide (and with it, macro mode) did not drift down to the 14, and remains a pro-only feature.
