Happy New Year!
According to gps status app, currently on my iphone 14pro max the vertical accuracy is 4,63m and horizontal is 3,49m. Side by side on my previous iPhone 13pro max the vertical accuracy is 4,57m and horizontal 3,55m. These numbers from here in Finland.
Can someone in the US check what accuracy you are getting?
Is there on ”field mode” *3001#12345#* like for accessing the radio data for the satellite data? Is there on app to access satellite data? I do not mean the satellite positions, but a the frequencies the phone is using.
I suspect my phone is not using L5 precision dual frequency GPS.
Maybe it is not available here, or the system is not yet active on the phone.
Cheers

Accuracy depends on satellite availability, geometry, the location of the phone, obstructions to its view of the sky, and atmospherics. Those numbers are not scientific, nor are they comparable to anyone else's.

Hi chabig,
it is like you say. I compared my new and old phone simultaneously in perfect reception conditions. 3m accuracy is what you expect for regular gps. The L5 frequency band of the new phone should get you 30cm accuracy optimally, 10 fold improvement.

Can you cite sources on that 30cm accuracy on a phone? You won't attain that with any phone - you're talking about an accuracy requiring DGPS.

Here is one:

My point is not the 30cm accuracy but the no difference in the two phones. I was just wondering if the L5 is yet working on the phone.

16.1 resolved a dual-frequency issue so supposedly it is. Best I see horizontal accuracy on my Garmin 66sr multi-band unit is 6 ft. with multiple L5 satellites in use. I wonder what the accuracy of the iOS status app is - Apple hasn't provided much access to GPS data in its APIs (unlike Android).

L5 currently is using 17/24 satellites, so that could effect the accuracy.

But on Apple Watch ultra people are seeing improvement:
I didn’t find any similar user tests for the newest iPhones. Nor for Androids using L5.
I found this discussion about Adroids gps, but no real data.
