I’ve had my iPhone 14 Pro since release day, the phone works great and has been looked after but it does need a new battery (73% capacity). I use it probably for around 7-10 hours a day, the main thing I do when I’m outside with it is take photos with it. I can see on the comparison chart on apples website that the main camera is 48mp, is there much of a difference between the 2 phones?

I’d probably keep the 17 Pro for 3 years again, so would upgrade to 512gb as im running out of space! Looking for opinions and if anyone else is in the same boat?

I'm keeping my (launch day) 14 Pro for at least another year, I got a battery replacement at the beginning of summer. The camera on it is good enough, zero complaints on it. I just feel like if I got the 17 Pro, it's just more or less going to be the same experience.

I have a 14 PM and am in the same boat minus the battery life (mines at 83%) and works for my uses.

I too want to see what the camera upgrades are all about vs. 14 series.

I have a feeling waiting another year unfortunately will be the move.

For minute there I considered upgrading to the base 17, which is an upgrade in almost every way except that it doesn't have the telephoto lens (which I don't use). The main reason is battery, mine is already at 77% and if I get a new battery in it I would be out of $100 while next year I'll lose another $100 on trade-in/resale value. That's a opportunity cost of $200. However upon further consideration I think I'll keep my 14 Pro one more year and upgrade to the 18 base instead since I work from home and I'm almost never too far from a power outlet.

The main camera hasn’t been upgraded at all for 4 generations (14 Pro through 17 Pro). Only the ultra wide and telephoto has improved over the years (and stuff like 4k120 Dolby vision).

Although you are finally getting USB-C, >30% bigger battery, faster more efficient chips, better thermals (pretty useful out in the sun), etc.

Agree. And those are some of the reasons why I will be going from a 14 PM 256 GB to a 17 PM 512 GB. I take lots of videos and photos and tend to keep them locally available. My battery is pretty decent at 85% but I find that I have to charge my phone a little bit at about 3-4 pm (taking it off the charger at 5 am). Does replacing the battery come out cheaper, yes but even having a USB-C to charge and transfer data is a big deal to me since my household has mostly everything on USB-C i.e. newer iPads, Macbook, other individuals with iphone 15s and 16s and Im the only one with a lightning supported device. It just makes sense to me to upgrade.
