This happens maybe 3 times a day. I can be in the Home Screen, or basically anywhere else. Restarting does no rectify the issue.

If you really are holding it portrait, and not maybe in some weird way (like horizontal etc) then it seems like a hardware issue with the accelerometer. Get it checked and replaced.

That is correct I'm holding it in a standard position. I'm more inclined to believe it's a software issue and hopefully not a hardware issue. If other users are having this issue it would probably be a software thing.

Have you tried using the orientation lock to see if that changes anything? I use mine almost exclusively with that turned on as its rare for me to use my phone in landscape mode.

I have not tried that as I use landscape mode exclusively for YouTube, but that's a good idea. That would probably stop the system from even trying to go to landscape

This happens to me pretty frequently on my 14 Pro, definitely some kind of bug. It’s always Lock Screen related, although it also happened on my 13 Pro running the beta.

Even on the beta? Maybe they're not aware of the bug yet. Outside of the lock-screen it happens in the music app as well.

Yeah I was surprised when I saw it on my 14 Pro, assumed they’d have it ironed out by then. Definitely been around for a while. I think I reported it, but I’m no longer on the beta and can’t check
