I had a XS Max for 4.5 years, the signal was always spotty. It had a known modem issue and I “suffered” through it for about five years and thought, you know, when I finally upgrade I’ll be able to keep the next one for even longer.

Enter the 15 pro. Surely Apple has their stuff together by now, it’ll be rock solid. Got it at launch, haven’t really travelled.

This weekend we were at the kids soccer games. My wife has a 13 pro. We were right beside each other, same carrier. I had zero connection. I couldn’t get any website to load, couldn’t send SMS or iMessage. Nothing. Meanwhile she’s streaming friggin TikTok. I restarted it, turned airplane mode off on, cell data etc. nothing worked.

I’m very irritated by this. $1500 on a phone that’s somehow almost worse connection than the one I came from.

Anyone having similar connection issues with the 15 pro (non max, maybe that makes a difference, smaller antenna?)

Probably bad carrier without enough spectrum.

If your Intel-based iPhone XS was always spotty, that's a big hint. The Intel modems were slower and couldn't hang onto a signal under marginal conditions, but they were never always spotty.

That’s interesting I wonder why my device then. Like why the issue carries over to a different phone. A bad SIM card maybe? Does that dictate connection at all?

Does your 15 Pro have a SIM card? Mine doesn't, but I'm in USA.

I get 5G+ in my house and most places in Dallas. I've even gotten mmWave at the American Airlines Center and Love Field.

It does, and it’s actually old, at least 2018. I switched out for a new one and lo and behold seems to be much better.

We were at more soccer games this past weekend I had 5G connection at 180 down! I don’t think I’ve ever had that like ever. So that seems to be the issue resolved.
