Specifically are you getting the temperature warning from iOS that your iPhone needs to cool down?

Appears to be an ongoing trend of people posting about this on social media so wanted to create a thread in where people can share their experiences.

I haven't opened mine yet, but will share my thoughts later today.

So, my phone has just, after 12 hours finally finished restoring fully from backup. Seems surprisingly cool. The phone is also 'idle'. Will report back on battery life and heat, but so far, seems to be doing better than my 12 PM, which was gimped by overheating issues since a later iOS 16 build...

Well over 3 years the phone will be much more efficient because of the improvements on the cpu/gpu but also the battery. I think a lot of these reports stem from how different the phone feels in the hand because of the new materials.

My backup process generated just a little warmth, but not what I would call hot. I did transfer directly from my 13 to my 15 Pro Max rather than use my iCloud backup, but not sure if that makes a difference.

No issues here after normal usage. I don’t play games on my phone, but what is considered the most demanding game to play today? I’m assuming it will be Resident Evil once that’s released.

I've only gotten the "your phone needs to cool down" after uploading like 80 GB of ProRes video to the cloud.

I've not gotten any warnings about temperature or overheating, but I have noticed my phone randomly start to heat up in situations where my 14 Pro would not. Nothing to the point of un-usability, but also more heat than I would expect for such basic tasks as sending an iMessage or reading a basic HTML page.

I wonder if any 15 pro/max owner got the message “you need to cool down”, it’s not even been a week…

15PM and I have yet to see this. ANd I certainly haven't felt my phone get too warm. I don't do much that should be a heavly load on my phone. Social media apps, Youtube on Brave Browser. Apple Music, Podcasts on Spotify. All have not produced any noticeable heat from my observations.

Put 13 mini on there and 100% overheating. It’s common.
I loved the iPhone 13 mini, but this is a brand new product that people are spending $1,000+ on and it would be nice to get consensus around what’s going on from all users.

Warm indexing earlier today but just as warm as my 12 Pro Max was while transferring my backup over. It’s perfectly fine about 6 hours later and I’ve had 0 issues. Totally thrilled with a 12-15 PM upgrade.

Alright iPhone was a bit warm while charging today. First time I’ve noticed and now see an update by Apple to remedy the issue in the next iOS release.

Some legitimate concerns, but nothing too worrisome. Happy to hear the A17 Pro won’t have to be downclocked.

I drive 45 mins to my office, 3-5 days I have seen the temperature warning and my phone won't charge while using a map app and a book app. Phone not hot at all, but won't charge. Does seem like a bug, at least for what I have noticed.

iPhone 15 Pro Max here and it does get warm but have not seen 1 temperature warning. Last year, my 14 Pro Max had a few temperature warnings during the first few days (setup, etc.) and never received 1 warning after that.

No real issues with my 15PM. While doing a lot of video it gets pretty hot but so did my 14PM with the same usage, it’s no different for me. No heat warnings on either phone.

Updated iOS. Nothing different on my end and the 15 PM working perfectly 🤷‍♂️

Ugh, just got this today after taking a series of photographs after a time lapse... message only hung around for a few seconds but it re-occurred a few times in a row. iPhone 15 got to be warm to the touch.

Not great.
