I’m noticing that my 15 Pro Max is getting quite warm while charging via a USB-C cable. It’s not getting so hot that I can’t hold it (though I would say it’s approaching that point). But it’s noticeably warmer than my 14 Pro when charging.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I think the phone is done with all its background tasks (restoring photos, messages, etc) at this point and I would expect wired charging to generate the less heat compared to wireless. But the phone gets pretty warm.

My 14 Pro Max got blazing hot when “fast” charging. I know Apple doesn’t support true fast charging, but I mean with a 30W brick.

Maybe? I’ll have to watch it for the next few days but at least it’s not getting hot. Just a little warmer than the 14 Pro Max did.

I’m more wary when they heat up too much in casual use. I had an 11 Pro that did that and it was not good on battery life at all. Terrible. My 12 mini would also get super hot if just a bit of sunlight through a tinted window hit it. But it was and is otherwise fine and a good phone.

Mine is getting warm to the touch too when charging. I’m using the apple 5w charger with the lighting to type c adapter. My guess it’s still indexing and downloading stuff from icloud. Like my photos etc. During set up the phone was hot to the touch where it was uncomfortable to hold. Left side of phone under the volume rocker especially.

My best guess is that the aluminum and titanium construction of the phone dissipates heat much faster than stainless steel.

My phone was hot during download of iCloud data and charging. The phone itself said it needed to cool down to continue.

Got my 15 pro yesterday, plugged it in with my 30w brick and provided charger cable. I soon after got an alert that charging would be paused once the phone temperature cooled down. It gets hot every time I plug it in but my phone setup is 100% complete. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong

Try to check your settings if your photos are done syncing? Mine start syncing again when I plug it in. 28k photos and 4.7k videos so it stops each time it’s hot. Only gets warm on wifi and plugged in, not during carplay.

Thanks for pointing this out! I just checked and it indeed said I had 19 items syncing to icloud, unplugged and let it finish. I’ll have to make sure it’s not syncing anything when I go to charge my phone and see if it still gets hot, although this doesn’t seem like an issue I want to deal with every time I have to plug it in. I’ll report back with any updates

Mine doing same… mine is 95% charged after setting up. From THE backside, I’m reading temperature of 94 near charger and 115 at top. Now I got messsge of CHARGING ON HOLD TILL IPHONE RETURNS TO NORMAL TEMPERATURE

Mine paused at 80% whilst charging wirelessly. Phone got pretty hot even inside a case.
