The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be at least $100 more expensive than their predecessors, according to DigiTimes.

The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1,099. DigiTimes' forecast places the price of the iPhone 15 Pro at $1,099 to $1,199 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max at $1,199 to $1,299.

The significant price increase could suppress sales of the new Pro iPhone models this year, reduced to around 77 million units in 2023. Initial estimates placed shipments at around 83 million units. This corresponds to a wider decline in the smartphone industry of more than five percent year-on-year.

Earlier this year, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple was contemplating raising the price for both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Analyst Jeff Pu has also said that the iPhone 15 Pro models could be more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro models. Pu believes the iPhone 15 Pro could be priced starting at $1,099, up from the $999 starting price of the iPhone 14 Pro.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to be unveiled at an Apple event on Tuesday, September 12. With that timing, pre-orders would likely take place on Friday, September 15, with launch following on Friday, September 22.

I used to upgrade every year and be excited for the keynote.

But Apple have stopped bringing out phones with a wow factor. Small increments.. just because they need to make more money. People have seen through it.

There is zero reason to upgrade if you have a phone that's under 4 years old.

Wow me apple and ill get one. but that hasn't happened for such a long time.

With the terrible exchange rate for Norwegian kroner, I'm expecting it to be even worse here...

But I'll probably replace my 11 pro, come September, no matter what.

Only question: Do I need to get the big one to get the best camera possible. I didn't like the size of my 7 plus, but I might unwillingly accept it, if the camera on the Pro Max/Ultra/Insert name here is considerably better than the "regular" Pro.

I guessing $100 increase for the base and it'll be 256GB which isn't really a price increase but removing the 128GB model as being the base and making you buy the 256GB as the base model

ETA:Talking US sales
Not quite. Oh I wish we were paying more for overpriced storage.

Margins. Less iPhones getting sold so Apple needs to charge more.

Smartphone upgrade cycles are by and large getting longer. Many people are holding on to their phones longer, and the reality is that technology simply does not improve quickly enough to enable a smartphone with enough revolutionary new features every year to make it a must have.

It’s just wasteful and unsustainable. Apple is doing the right thing by selling to people with iPhones, not just selling iPhones. Higher prices, more accessories, more services. They play the long game better than anyone else in the industry and it shows.

Honestly, the price doesn't bother me. My smartphone is something I use every single day and it makes doing a lot of things in life easier so it's an essential device/tool that I need at all times. I paid £1,300 for my phone (+ insurance) and while yeah that's a lot of money I was happy to pay it. If my next iPhone is £1,500 then I'll still pay it.

The only thing that has changed is that I don't upgrade my phone all the time now. Another reason I was willing to pay £1,300 for my 12 Pro Max is because I planned to keep it for many years. This will be my third year with it and even though the battery isn't as good as it was the phone can still do everything I need it to. If the battery gets really bad then I'll pay Apple to put a new one in. I'll only be buying a new iPhone when this one breaks, becomes slow/tedious to use, or it is no longer supported by Apple.

I should be able to hold off until the 16 without any problems and I'm hoping I can push it even further until the iPhone 17 in 2025. I'm guessing iOS 19 will be the last update this phone gets.

The 14 pro is already £1099 in the UK, equivalent to $1399 USD. My 14 pro max will likely get a replacement battery when it’s between 2 and 3 years old and it should do me just fine until it’s 4 years old.
This is price discrimination as they think UK is a smaller market.
Check all recent apple products like m2 MacBook Air 15 inch, it’s more than changing the currency but adding the number by 50

That's essentially the issue. Apple bean counters know the price/sales volume curve and will be working it extra hard this year. Sure, there'll be a wave of complaints for a short time (there always is), but the majority will upgrade eventually. They always do.

As much I hate paying such an amount for a phone, I think I am going to upgrade. I have now a XS Max, my wife still uses a 7 and my daughter going into 8th grade is finally getting hers. Because of my work, I will opt for the 15 Pro Max on an Apple payment plan, my wife gets my old one and my daughter probably a 12 so she has a least 5G. That should keep us going for 5+ years.

What I find interesting about iPhone pricing is that they are very closely mirroring the pricing on the iPads, MacBooks and iMacs, for a device that is a fraction of the size, and we consumers don’t seem to think twice about that. And it’s not just Apple where this is true. There is a cost for miniaturization and clearly all the cellular patents drives costs up.
