iPhone 16 Pro iphone 16 Pro macro focusing ability improved?

I am still more than happy with my iphone 14 Pro and consider the wide camera macro resolution to still meet my needs but one complaint I have with the macro shots is it is difficult to lock focus on a particular point of the image and find I sometimes have to take several shots to get the focus where I want it to. For an example at work when photographing say a small connector lying on a desk, it often times focuses on the desk not the object. Really wish I could pinch down the large focus box to get spot focusing like my regular camera. Anyhow has the 16 pro/max improved in this area?
