I currently have a 12 pro with 256GB and am thinking of upgrading to a 16 pro max. What are your thoughts on 256GB vs 512GB?

I'm currently using about 182GB, and have about 74GB free. I don't take an enormous amount of videos or photos, but I'm wondering how much space the iOS 18 with all the AI features will use, and whether 256GB will still suffice?

256 is probably fine but if I had less than 70-80gb free I’d be considering upgrading on the storage as well. If you’re gonna keep the phone for 3+ years it’s probably safer to go with the 512.

I’m in a similar situation, I have a 14PM 256GB, I’m using 144 GB of 256 GB.
I’m upgrading to a 16PM and deciding between 256 or 512, what do you all think?

Not sure if the AI and new photo/video features will eat up a lot of storage?

i have a 256GB 15PM with 55 left but i went with the 512 this time around. I use iCloud heavily but was on the fence so i went for the higher storage. Plus I had a lot of peer pressure from my best friend

I somehow survived on 64gb on my X, difficult. Had to compromise on apps, only keeping the essentials but it was enough with icloud for photos/videos on trips. Went with 256gb because I plan to experiment with prores footage and will connect a SSD using magsafe for those times I really need the extra storage

256GB on my iPhone 14 Pro Max has been plenty for me - in fact, I think 256GB has been my sweet spot since the iPhone 7 Plus ... I have 2TB of iCloud storage so my photos and videos go there; the main thing I use the internal storage for is Infuse/Plex videos, synced from my NAS. But even with a season or two of several shows synced, I still always have 80-100GB free. So I got 256GB again for my iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I pre-ordered the 512gb as I have 60gb free on my 15P 256gb. I travel quite often and want to be able to listen to Apple Music and the only way I've been able to do that is downloading music to my iPhone.

I want to keep my phone for years so this time I go with the 1 TB model. I have like 490GB used on my 512 13 pro max so I want to not care about storage anymore. since emulators are on the App Store I stock all my games up to the PSP so it takes a lot of space. I also download a lot of things on my phone while on the go to transfer to my Mac later. Also lots of videos.
at that price It’s not too much of an extra for me to get Peace of mind and not thinking about storage anymore. Both my iPad pros have 2TB storage and I’m too used to this to compromise on my phone.
