Hey guys!
So my iPhone 7 Plus is basically on its last legs (camera's totally busted—won't focus at all, and don't even get me started on the battery. It's constantly dying and running super slow in low-power mode). Sure, I could throw some money at repairs, but at this point, it feels kinda pointless. I've been keeping tabs on the iPhone 16 Pro/Max, and I've got a few concerns I wanted to run by you all:
1. Touch screen situation: From what I've seen, it might be related to the new camera UI or those super-slim bezels. I've seen folks talking about touches not registering properly, having trouble with taps, and getting phantom touches.
2. Camera stuff: An easy test is to check Night Mode in complete darkness—apparently some people are seeing blue spots? Also hearing about the camera app crashing during longer recordings or when switching between lenses. Anyone experiencing this?
3. Speaker issues: I'm honestly confused about what's going on with the speakers. Is this another random quality control thing like the camera issues, where some units are fine and others aren't?
These are just things I've noticed in my research this past month. Have any of the recent updates fixed these problems? What's interesting is that I rarely see complaints about the regular iPhone 16 or 16 Plus. Maybe fewer people are going for the base models? I mean, it's 2024—who wants to go back to 60Hz, right? But still, are there really no major issues?
Real talk—I've been lugging around my iPad Mini just to take pictures (yeah, I know 😅). Just yesterday, I had to whip out the iPad to snap a pic of my cat, and I was like, "This is getting ridiculous." Having a phone without a working camera in 2024 is seriously cramping my style.
I've thought about holding out for the iPhone 17 or SE4, but honestly, I'm not sure my 7 Plus will make it that long. Dropping money on repairs just doesn't make sense anymore. Some friends suggested grabbing a used iPhone as a stopgap, and sure, anything would be better than what I'm working with now. But here's the thing—putting money into anything other than my next proper upgrade just feels like throwing good money after bad, you know?
What would you do in my situation? Hold off until they fix all these iPhone 16 issues? 🤔
