This year's forthcoming iPhone 16 Pro models will be available with a new 2TB maximum storage option, claims a new rumor coming out of Korea.

According to news aggregator account "yeux1122" on the Naver blog, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be available with double the maximum storage capacity as the iPhone 15 Pro models.

The move is said to be a result of Apple's recently rumored switch to higher-density Quad-Level Cell (QLC) NAND flash for higher storage models.

Apple's use of QLC NAND could allow Apple to fit more storage into a smaller space and it is less expensive than Triple-Level Cell (TLC) NAND, which current iPhones use. On the downside, QLC has comparatively slower read and write speeds.

It's worth noting that in the last couple of years we have seen rumors that both the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro would feature 2TB options for the same reason, but they turned out to be false.

That said, this year Apple is expected to add a new "Capture Button" to the iPhone 16 models for taking video. According to The Information, the button is being introduced to further push the iPhone as a camera alternative for shooting horizontal video, so offering higher storage options could be part of that plan.

Apple should go to quad level and increase storage capacities. These SSDs are just as fast (or faster) at higher capacities.

This is one reason Apple looks to be so uncompetitive right now in storage capacity. Increase storage and go to quad level everywhere.

Its the same rumor rehashed every year, Lol..I guess one of these years it will have to be right guys 👍

If they did that and kept the prices the same, they’d surely have to do it with the Mac line up, too, else they couldn’t possibly continue to justify those prices.
Surely prices wouldn’t be kept. They would skip the 1tb and add the 2tb for a higher price, trying tu upsell for the people that just needed a bit more than 512gb, like iCloud and its big steps between plans

I wish internet speeds were good enough nowadays to pull data from iCloud instantly and not require too much on-device storage but it's not the case. 5G from Vodafone in the UK is a joke, and I still cannot load photos or videos (that I wish to see or show to someone) instantly, nor would it load in high res, nor could I send them right away. But 4K videos take a lot of space. I hope they can invent a new video format that takes less space while we wait for internet speeds to be as good as they should be. Right now I have 800gb of photos and videos so 2TB would be sweet if not too expensive.

Been using 256GB since my iPhone 7 Plus and it's always been enough. That's because it's tied to a desktop computer that syncs its backups so never needed more than the free 5gb iCloud.

Yeah sure but still F that, i went for the S24U couples days ago. Same way i was introduce to Apple when i bought my first 3G is gonna be the same way I’m probably gonna get out of it. Man i truly miss Jobs and Ive.

It’ll be basically the same as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but slightly better internals and cameras but 2TB of storage, which will only set you back to almost the price of a foldable phone. Great. Awesome. Super.
