I know, "get a Mac" but maybe someone here can advise me. Upgraded my iPhone from an 8 to a 16 Pro with 18.1.1 and today discovered that it doesn't work as the 8 did before. If I plug a USB-A to C cable from the PC to the iPhone, I get a "Trust this computer?" and it appears as a Portable Device in Windows Explorer, but only for a minute or two and then it disappears again, along with the Windows bee-boop sounds indicating it's been disconnected. Device Manager shows the Portable Device named "Apple iPhone" going grey when it disconnects.

My sense is that the new iOS is to blame as of course nothing has changed with Windows 7 for a few years now. Is there any hope for me to get this working again? I have a program or two on my Windows PC that I want to use with the iPhone.

You've wisely upgraded your ancient iPhone. Now it‘s time to upgrade your ancient computer! MS dropped support for Windows 7 over four years ago.

Need someone else here (to tell me something I don't already know).
