I have not yet seen a thread exclusively on battery life exclusively for the non-Max iPhone 16 Pro.

Post away. I got an iPhone 16 Pro Max and I'm considering downsizing since I hear the battery life is much improved this year. Convince me!

There is nothing in the advertising about new kind of batteries for the 16, only bigger batteries. But is still the same lithium based technology as far I know. I guess the non-max will require less energy, less from the battery and will last longer, but I don't believe in a difference that justify a downgrade.

Today, I am worry about the iOS that is demanding a lot of the hardware. My old iPhone 11 burned the battery in two years, and is getting worst. I would make an iOS downgrade if possible, now still keeping in 17. With IA, we might need replaceable batteries like those old analog Motorollas XD

I was trying to convince myself for a day or so after 15pm. It didn’t work out, battery drained like crazy on 16p. Maybe it just needed a time to calibrate, but I gave up and switched to 16pm.

No battery life issues on my 16 pro after a week. Doesn't feel much different than my PM did. If you use your phone for 5+ hours a day away from any charger, then maybe you should consider a PM, but otherwise the pro works great.

There are background processes that run shortly after setting up, likely indexing, that I assume would ding battery life. I noticed an ”Ongoing Device Setup“ flag displayed on the Battery settings screen for about a day after setting up my 16 Pro. No idea how significant of a hit it would cause, and the flag it didn’t give any additional info.

No doubt the 16 Pro Max is still king though, coming in at 11h29m compared to the Pro at 9h06m in Tech Chap’s test. Still impressive for the Pro this year, just 20 mins less than the 15 Pro Max. Then again, the 2 hour jump for the Max YoY is surprising as I thought initial word was that the Pro had a bigger battery leap YoY. Who knows, each test can be highly subjective.

Interesting, thanks for the response!

I have the 16 pro coming from 14 pro max. Been pleasantly surprised by the 16 pro battery. Only been running for two days so it should only get better from here once the background process stabilise
Would you say it is comparable to your 14 Pro Max?

FYI: I had a 15P(6.1") the size was perfect and the battery was okay, but after a couple of month I had to charge it twice a day.

Anyone else having issues with battery life? I had good battery to start even with indexing coming from a 15ProMax however last few days when going to sleep my iPhone is dropping a lot of % in the night even with lower power mode on facing down and background app refresh turned off?

I’m feeling the same but could be me using my phone more since it’s new. I had an update out of the box and since I’ve seen “Update finishing in the background” in battery settings.

These are my current use times since the last charge which isn’t bad but just last few days it’s dropping 4% at night (phone isn’t left on charge over night) and I am running dark mode to save battery and no 5G which in the UK is pointless anyway.

Maybe it is updating your apps during the night when usually phones are plugged to chargers. When I forgot to plug it or plug it wrong, in the morning it will be near zero.

I downsized from the 15 Pro Max and am very happy with the battery life so far. I’m getting anywhere from 6-8hrs SOT on my 16 Pro, which is plenty since I’m almost never too far from a charger wherever I go.

Greetings to all/
I dont know am posting this where I should but....
Last night I disnt put my pro max 16 to charge.
Before I sleep it was 41% , and when I woked up it was 35%.
I sleep for 7hrs
Is this normal or what?

There is no nothing in battery report?

It’s a thread about Pro, non-Max. Just read the title

My 16P battery drained like crazy, especially first thing in the morning. The battery would go from 100% to 80% in about 20 minutes and get quite hot, and then it would drain steadily at a slower rate for the rest of the day. I was having to charge in the middle of the afternoon. I really tried to be patient because I know that new phones need a while to do all of their indexing and calibration and whatnot, and also that the first iOS update usually helps a bit. Finally yesterday I started seeing decent battery life — still not as good as the 15P I traded in for it, but at least I can make it through a day. And it's been more than two weeks since I got this phone on launch day. My usage habits haven't changed at all. I'm beginning to wonder if I just got a bad one.

I am upgrading my 13 pro max to a 16 pro max which is due 22rd October.
I love the 13 pro max battery but have always had a small issue with the size so I’m toying with the idea of changing my order to a 16 pro.
if the new 16 pro has a same or very similar battery life I think I’d be happy to change order but I can only go by apple compare menu.

Has anyone got any helpful info?

I just got a 15 Pro and testing battery life, it charged to max 80%
Its now 3 pm~ here and so far i have 54% battery left.

1 hour 45 minutes social
1 hour entertainment
35 minute production and finance

it includes 1 hour spotify/ 30 minute whatsapp, 30 minute insta, 30 minute facebook.

So far that costed me 25% of my battery througout the day since i took it off the charger 07:30 am. =

9~ hours off charger/ 25% battery usage.

Dunno how it stacks up against your 16 pro

I have had the 16P since its launch. Initially, with the version of iOS 18 that came installed, the battery life was excellent. However, after the first update to a different build of iOS 18, the battery life began to decline. There was significant idle drain, and the battery drained even faster during use. After downloading version 18.0.1, the performance improved slightly during use, but idle drain remained a problem. The last couple of days have shown improvement in both idle and active use, but it still isn’t what I expected. Here's to 18.1 bring some gains.
