I have yet to see some kind of detailed comparison here, does anyone know? I read something about a 56% larger sensor on the iPhone 17 Pro, but it wasn't on all of the lenses, only one of them? Anything else that affects photoquality?

The main and wide cameras and sensors didn't change.
The telephoto sensor is now 48MP instead of 12MP. The sensor is said to be 56% larger size.
The lens is now a "4x" equivalent to a 100mm lens on a full frame camera. The 16P had a 5x lens (120mm) but only shooting onto a 12MP sensor.
The 17P has an "8x" options that gives a FOV of a 200mm lens on full frame camera. But it isn't an optical zoom. It results in a 12MP file instead of 48MP. Basically cropping in 2x (2 squared = 4) to give you that "200mm" FOV.

I am no expert with many of those terms to be honest. :) As an amateur-photographer should I bother if I've got the 16pro already?
Depends how much you want more telephoto magnification. 17Pro gives you the 8x instead of 5x onto12MP files. Also some think 4x is a better focal length for portraits than 5x. And now you have 24 or 48MP files at 4x instead of 12MP files at 5x.
