Has anyone had any issues with charging on the 16? I’ve got a standard iPhone 16 and have had issues either fast charging.

It always picks up the charge, and charges but is very slow. It was fine when I first got it.

I’ve tried with 2 MagSafes chargers, new 25w and old 15w, seperate bricks (apple 20w and anker 30w) and also an apple 20w brick and usb cable, different wall sockets and same issue.

I’m wondering if this is a software issue or my phone has a fault.

I've got the same issue on my 16 pro. Also tried different magsafe chargers and different power bricks.
No idea what's going on but tomorrow it took 7+ hours to charge from 34% to 62%.

Also, the warning in the battery settings menu about the phone finishing the setup was gone for the last 3 days but showed up again today.

Also the camera is crashing constantly followed by immense lag of the system …

Hope that the upcoming 18.0.1 update will fix these issues.

BTW: Because of my problems I had apple support run a remote system diagnosis and the hardware is okay, so I'm pretty sure it's a software issues.

Do you have the Optimize Battery setting on? The more times you charge the Battery management system will begin to optimize the charging cycle and not just fast charge to your battery setting limit or 100%.

Dave

Optimised is off, phone has been erased and set up as new. Tested at work with another 2 wires fast chargers and still extremely slow.

20w. Charging 3% in 15 mins.

I’m experiencing the same issue (and 18.0.1 didn’t solve it for me) and was wondering if it’s because I bought the phone through AT&T (purchased online through ATT with a trade in and on an AT&T installment plan). Curious where others on this thread got their phone. It would be relieving to know that this is just affecting a percentage of all phones and not just phones from a specific provider.

I did have issues with my 16 Pro Max Using the 15 W MagSafe charger and then it was slow using the new 25 W MagSafe charger but it seemed sort itself out after a couple of days. By that time I’d ordered a replacement phone and that’s come through and that charges really quickly.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I believed optimized charging was solely learning location based patterns of charging, including an 80% overnight rate until a few hours prior to use (waking up). I'm out of the loop on improvements as my 13 Mini realy only held onto optimized for 6 months.

Does the replacement charge quickly with both the 15W and 25W MagSafe chargers?

Oof. I bought mine through ATT and it’s now outside of the return window anyway. I assume you just straight-up returned and replaced? Or did you go through Apple Support?

On the last day of the return period , I called Apple technical support and they ran diagnostic checks and couldn’t find anything wrong so they put me through to post sales Support who said to return the phone but I didn’t want to be without a phone whilst I tried to find another one so they agreed to extend the return period for another two weeks to give me a chance to find a replacement phone. I sourced one on line that was available ar my local Apple Store and purchased it for pick up and took my old phone in to the store and got a refund on it. Worked out perfectly really and that’s why I always buy from Apple.

I just discovered that I am having this same issue...I have a 16PM and bought the new 25W Apple MagSafe charger and it is plugged in via a Anker 45W power brick and according to Coconut Battery even with the phones battery level at about 30% charge its only charging at about 2-4 Watts(Thats IF I can get it to charge at all)....should be much higher, near the max of 20+ watts. And obviously it's backed up by the phones battery percentage not going up. Hopefully it is a software issue and not hardware.

Yes, as I’ve said in earlier posts charging is very slow with Anker or Belkin 65w dual chargers. Seems absolutely fine with a UGreen 100w charger.

the 16 pro max with the new faster MagSafe puck with apples 30w charger is so slow, its not any where near as fast as usb c plug in, whats the issue its not charging at 25w

I always use good old 5watt Apple Original charger for my bedside overnight charging on my previous iPhone.
But on my 16 pro max , when I woke up it never reach 100%
I bought a usb a to c cable with display and it shows that it only charges at 2.7 watt

Weird

Hey, after charge and I reboot the iPhone without the phone charger connected then it say 100 percent.
