I no it may still be early yet but for the lucky ones that may have it early. How has the cell signal. Been with the new C1 modem? All so what is the modem freamware Version dos the C1 come with

Depends where you are. If you have good 5G mid-band like in China, the C1 is slower than Qualcomm. In the U.S. where 5G is slow, it doesn't show much difference.

Multiple reviewers now show the C1 having worse reception numbers and lower SNR compared to QCOMM.

Personally I most care about reliability in fringe areas, something that Intel struggled greatly with compared to Qualcomm. Strong speeds are great, but holding a usable signal in difficult areas is a true test of reliability IMHO.

Anyway, I figured this thread might be a good place to post info/tests as they come out, so I'm adding this to the mix. The reply to his original post has more anecdotal testing info.

Qualcomm's newly announced X85 -

CEO's quote: "It's the first modem that has so much AI, it actually increases the range of performance of the modem so the modem can deal with weaker signals."

So what I like about hearing that is that they're actually thinking about dealing with weaker signals. I'm sure Apple is as well. But it feels like Apple, reviewers, etc. are still only focusing on speeds with the C1. The fact that the Qualcomm CEO specifically mentions dealing with weaker signals as a primary feature of the new X85 is telling, IMHO.

I know, I'm reading too much into a brief interview, but I found it interesting nonetheless.

Weak signal tests start around 13:08. C1 seems to be holding its own (this video is all on Verizon):

And also a short bit here (2:23 mark) showing the C1 behaving the same as the 16 for this person (both going between 3G/5G in a weak signal area, carrier uncertain):

I think this basically shows it provides a consistent experience across the board? So far anyway…

Not the fastest but not the slowest in bad times either. I think that’s how I’d interpret that unless I’m reading it wrong. Would like to see more around weak signal consistency as well.

Everything I’ve seen and experienced so far granted less then 24 hours with mine says the C1 handles the same signal better then my 15 pro max which seemed slower in less then ideal signal areas. Visible user (Verizon’s 5G network)

Battery life is also insane it’s on track to comfortably beat out the 15 pro max with my usage habits.
