iphone 16GB needing reset to use dock line out

I commute between a universal dock at home and the packaged iPhone dock at work. Often, when I get to work, the iphone won't use the dock lineout (music instead comes out the iphone speakers), and I have to power it off and on again to get it to function.

Does anyone else have this issue?
